Choice Broadband

making broadband feel like a choice, not a utility

Broadband is a crowded category where most providers compete with the same language: speed, price, reliability and technical specifications. Choice Broadband needed a proposition with more personality — something customers could understand quickly and feel good about choosing.

The work brought brand, positioning, tone of voice and online marketing together around a simpler, more human customer story.

The challenge

find a more human place in a technical market

The broadband market is full of functional promises. That makes it difficult for a new provider to stand apart simply by saying that its connection is fast or reliable.

Choice Broadband needed a clear reason to exist beyond the infrastructure itself. The public proposition combines full-fibre connectivity with a social-impact element, giving customers a more emotional reason to engage with the brand alongside the practical service they are buying.

That created an opportunity to move the brand language away from technical telecoms conventions and towards something clearer, warmer and more accessible for households.

What Marketta delivered

four parts of one customer proposition

Rather than treating the brand and marketing as separate exercises, the work was shaped around the same question throughout: how should Choice Broadband make customers feel about choosing it?

01

branding

Developing a friendly, recognisable brand system that could live comfortably in a consumer broadband category without disappearing into the visual language of larger telecom providers. The mascot and brighter creative language give the brand a more approachable character.

02

positioning

Shaping the offer around customer choice and positive impact rather than making connectivity specifications do all the work. This gave the brand a clearer emotional territory while still supporting the practical broadband proposition underneath it.

03

tone of voice

Creating language that is straightforward, friendly and free from unnecessary telecom jargon. The tone needed to make buying broadband feel simpler while giving Choice enough personality to sound recognisable across the website, customer communications and campaigns.

04

online marketing

Translating the proposition into digital messaging that can work across the website, social content and acquisition campaigns. The priority was consistency: customers should encounter the same central idea whether they discover the brand through an advert, a landing page or the main site.

03

Brand personality

technical service. human character.

The mascot gives Choice Broadband a device for making an otherwise invisible service feel more tangible and memorable.

Used carefully, that character can soften technical information, create continuity across campaigns and give customer-facing communication a friendlier visual anchor without turning the whole proposition into a children’s brand.

The key is balance: enough warmth to be distinctive, while retaining the confidence customers expect from a service they rely on every day.

Digital expression

one idea across every online touchpoint

Positioning only becomes valuable when customers can feel it in the actual marketing experience.

The online work therefore focused on translating the brand into clear customer-facing messages rather than leaving positioning as an internal statement. Website copy, campaign language and visual creative all needed to support the same sense of straightforward choice and accessible connectivity.

That creates a stronger base for ongoing marketing because future activity can flex around different offers and audiences without losing the core brand idea.

The outcome

a clearer reason to choose the brand

The work gives Choice Broadband a more coherent platform for competing in a market where functional claims alone are difficult to own.

Brand identity, positioning, tone and online marketing now have a shared role: make the provider easier to recognise, easier to understand and easier to feel positively about.

The result is a brand platform that can support acquisition today while remaining flexible enough for new customer communications and campaigns as the business grows.
